Glen Nevis Weekend

We had a great weekend in Glen Nevis mainly based at Polldudh area.  Activities included bouldering, multi pitch and trad climbing.  Everyone had a great time both during the day when climbing and in the evening as most stayed at the same campsite.  We were supported throughout by EICA Ratho instructors.

First outdoor event at Kirriemuir

On 1st of May, we headed to Kirriemuir for our first outdoor meet of the year.  We had a large turnout and everyone enjoyed the day.  Everyone had a great time getting lots of routes ticked.  We again had EICA Ratho coaches in attendance.

Change of officebearers

David Dundas has been replaced as Membership Secretary by Andrew Fall and can we welcome Ian Flockhart to the Committee:

At Home at EICA:Ratho

We didn't bring a camera to our day at Ratho recently which is a pity because the 16 Quickdraw Climbers and their families made for a busy day in the arena. Our older members, Jodie, Keira and Kirsten were on hand to lead a group warm up and to mentor younger climbers throughout the day. We mixed things up a bit so that people climbed with different partners, some new, some familiar.

2013-2014 Competition Results Review

Throughout the 2013-24 competition year Quickdraw members have supported each other in competitions ranging from local indoor bouldering leagues to those on a national level.

Yorkshire Dales Trip

A great weekend over the border in Yorkshire. Saturday found the club at Robin Proctor's Scar getting stuck in to the limestone. Older climber lead routes and fixed top ropes for the younger climbers to use. Sunday's weather wasn't so kind (OK the rain was torrential at times) so we headed underground to White Scar Caves followed by a quick session at the Kendal Climbing Wall before returning north. Thanks to Dave Brown and Andrea Partridge for the photos

It was Keira's birthday on the Sunday so we had cakes

Climb Newcastle Bouldering Meet

With a catalogue of injuries and school commitments among our older members, it was a young crew of Quickdraws, including three new members, that headed across the border for a day of bouldering at Climb Newcastle. Thanks to Allan Moore for these photos of everyone getting stuck in to a coaching session with Suzan Dudink, Climb Newcastle's head coach

Competition Preparation at TCA Glasgow

With two big boulder competitions coming up in April the club headed over to TCA Glasgow where Chris and Paul put everyone through their paces with loads of useful tips on warming up (and staying warmed up) and then qualification and finals practice. Masses of useful information for everyone.

Quickdraws at The Pleasance

Thanks to Allan Moore for these photos of a good turn out of Quickdraws taking the opportunity to visit the climbing wall at University of Edinburgh Centre for Sport and Exercise in preparation for the 3rd round of the 2014 YCS. Some people were very good at hiding from the camera over the course of the day- so apologies for missing them out!
