2012 International Youth Competition Dates
Submitted by Anonymous on 13 September, 2011 - 16:21Very, very provisional 2012 EYC dates can be seen in the European Council section of the IFSC website. currently showing a round of the EYC in Edinburgh 26/27May. Same date for Imst Colors. Arco stays in September slot next year while World Youth Championships head to Singapore in August.

William's Malham Success
Submitted by Anonymous on 5 September, 2011 - 08:27Well done to William Bosi for ticking his first outdoor 7b+ at Malham last weekend. William was down working with Robbie Phillips as part of a MCofS backed training weekend and demonstrated his usual tenacity to tick the following routes:-
“Consenting Adults” (7a) – Onsight
“Free and even easier” (7a+) – Flash
“Something Stupid” (7b) – 2nd go
“Space Race” (7b+) – 2nd go

Winter Bouldering Series
Submitted by Anonymous on 30 August, 2011 - 15:53Climbing walls often run bouldering series over the winter months. I've posted dates for the Alien Rock and Avertical World series on our calendar.
Alien Rock series is only open to climbers 14 years + while Avertical World series includes boys and girls categories. In fact last year's Girls' Champion was our own Gabriella Stewart and the Men Easy Champion was Euan King.

Leading Ladder 2011-12
Submitted by Anonymous on 24 August, 2011 - 16:27The BMC Leading Ladder kicks off on Saturday 1 October 2011 and runs through to 25 March 2012 at 29 UK walls. This fun lead climbing competition for ages 12+ is a great way to get fit and challenge yourself this winter. There are 2 rounds in Scotland both at EICA 29th Oct - 13th Nov and 11-26 Feb.

Open Lead and Speed Competitions at EICA 15/16 October
Submitted by Anonymous on 24 August, 2011 - 16:08EICA will host the first ever British Speed Competition this October. Scheduled to run the same weekend as the British Lead Climing Championships there will be the usual IFSC Junior and Senior Categories for both events. There is also a Veterans Category for the Lead Climbing should any parents wish to participate.

Scottish Youth Bouldering Championships 2011

The SYBC is operated on a quite different format to the YCS, although the age categories are the same as follows:

Sport climbing makes 2013 shortlist for 2020 Olympics

On July 4, 2011 the IOC Executive Board announced the sports shortlisted for the 2020 Olympic Games. The announcement was made ahead of the 123rd IOC session in Durban, South Africa.
The sports included are: baseball, karate, roller sports, softball, sports climbing, squash, wakeboard and wushu, one of which could be added to the 2020 summer sports program.
